Heal Your Hamstring

Home Therapies!

The hamstring muscle group, located at the back of the leg, runs from the buttocks to your lower leg bones. The severity of the pain will depend on how badly the tissues are strained, but one will experience sudden, sharp pain in the back of the thigh, which may cause you to “pull-up” mid stride. Hamstring strains can range from minor stretches to full ruptures; they are one of the most vulnerable muscle groups in the body. In fact, hamstring pulls are so common among younger athletes that they account for a third of lower body injuries.

hamstring injury

In general, and most commonly, chronic muscle tears directly result from pushing your body’s limits. This may include poor flexibility or strength, an imbalance in quadriceps to hamstring size and strength, a difference in leg length, muscle fatigue, inadequate warm-up, and a history of hamstring injury; where as an acute strain may result from direct trauma such as a fall or a hit sustained to the muscle.

Dear Customer Service,

I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for all your help in getting me set up with the right treatments for my injured leg. My hamstring has been plaguing me for months and I had gone from running 7 miles per day to barely being able to climb the front stairs to my home.

I found your site excellent. It was very informative and easy to read. When I called your customer service people I found that Paul was really knowledgeable on all your products and he was excellent in helping me pick out the right items for my injury. It was really nice to talk to someone who cared and not just an order taker.

I got the 'ultimate hamstring kit' and it certainly has done the trick. After just 2 weeks I'm back to my full distance and I can feel that my performance is still improving - I'm still treating myself regularly.

I just wanted to say thanks. THANKS!!

Hamstring tears can occur at any point along the muscle, for this reason as well as the size and location of the muscle group, is why the hamstring is so vulnerable to strain injury.

If the area is not attended to properly the injury may quickly get worse. Continued exertion on the muscle will quickly change a minor stretch into a major tear. This is why prompt and effective treatment is required; a treatment that will enable you to exercise diligence and convenience; a treatment specifically designed for soft tissue injuries!

In the injuries initial stages it is important to reduce the swelling in the area and to control the pain as much as you can. The URICE (Ultrasound, Rest Ice Compression Elevation) method has long been a tried and true treatment for muscle pulls and other soft tissue injuries. The best way to heal is to reduce swelling; the RICE method facilitates this as well as a quicker healing time.

When using radiant energy or ultrasound, the energy waves stimulate blood flow which speeds up healing and clears away the pain causing inflammation. Our Ultrasound system comes with a specially formulated gel which contains naturally-based, pain relieving, anti-inflammatory ingredients. The ultrasound unit actually drives the pain relieving ingredients deep into injured tissue (a process known medically as phonophoresis) giving you the pain relief where you need it. In effect, you receive enhanced ultrasound therapy treatment every session!

To get the maximum benefits combine ultrasound therapy and our cold therapy wraps for the ultimate in URICE treatment! Our cold compression wraps are made of the highest quality materials available. They fit perfectly, stay in place, are extremely durable, and use a special patented baffled cold array. What is a baffled cold array? All other cold packs simply use a plastic bag partially filled with cold gel. What is sure to happen is the gel pools in the low spots or in pockets where there is no pressure. Fill a plastic bag with water and put it on your arm and watch what happens - all the water sits in two pools on either side of your arm. Cold compression wraps work because they interrupt and slow nerve and cell function in the damaged area. Once blood vessels are damaged they can no longer carry oxygenated blood to the damaged tissue and therefore cells begin to break-down. The deep cold provided by cold compression wraps slow cell function thereby reducing cellular break-down. Furthermore, because the cold wraps serve to numb the nerves the wraps also reduce pain!

Dear MendMeShop,

About 9 months ago my Doctor prescribed physical therapy treatments for my chronic tennis elbow. As an avid player, I have been suffering on and off with this condition for years. I was receiving hot and cold therapy and each time finished with an ultrasound treatment. It worked pretty well.

Recently I saw I could buy all these tools online through your shop, so I did. WOW what a difference. Being able to give myself treatments at home was not only easier, but I got much better results than when I was going for treatments twice per week.

Since I got my gear, my suffering is over. When I feel the pain returning I treat myself, always with a cold wrap and sometimes with the energy pad for a week or so and I stop the tennis elbow before it ever returns. The time between flare-ups is getting longer and longer, and my game is better than ever.

Thank you for some truly amazing products!
