Heal Your Achilles

Home Therapies!

Tendon tissue is a fibrous flexible connective tissue between your muscles and bones, providing the means and strength to move your bones. The tendon transfers the energy produced by the contracted muscle. The Achilles is the strongest tendon in the body. Connecting the heel and the lower calf muscles of the leg, the Achilles is responsible for supporting the largest muscle group in the body, the legs, enabling motion, and performing under intense muscle contraction during physical activity.

achillies tendon injury

Most commonly a tear or complete rupture of the tendon occurs as a result of tightness in the lower legs, poor or inappropriate footwear and/or unstable training ground, and sudden changes in training intensity. While the Achilles tendon has numerous associated conditions including common injuries such as shin splints; the most prevalent, Achilles tendonitis, is characterized by a gradual tightness and soreness that worsens unless treated. Discomfort or pain while palpating or lightly pinching the tendon between your fingers is a good indication of Achilles tendonitis. This injury is problematic among athletes, especially runners and professional dancers, as both activities place excessive stress on the tendon. Achilles Tendonitis is a degenerative condition and should not be left untreated, otherwise a complete rupture of the fibrous tissues may eventually result - a condition that is much more difficult to treat.

I would very much like to write a review for your cold wraps since they have been such a help to me.

I am an avid tennis player that has this year suffered from both elbow and achilles tendonitis. For years I've been the best in my club but once my tendonitis set in I just couldn't compete.

I tried creams and pain killers and bands but they didn't get me better. I was beginning to fear I'd never recover. Then I ordered a radiant kit and cold wrap from you and things have really turned around.

The tightness and inflammation seem to be pretty much gone and I can't say enough about how much the cold wrap helped for pain - it was like it was sucking the pain right out of my ankle - truly amazing!

Too bad for the rest of the club. They thought I was out for the season and now I'm back!

The best way to avoid injuring a tendon is to maintain a decent level of fitness and to warm-up properly before performing any intense exercise. Warming up can include light jogging and stretching to increase blood flow and elasticity to the tendons.

Upon injury, cold therapy will reduce initial inflammation, a key component for pain relief and healing. After the initial stages of swelling have been controlled it is then beneficial to apply heat to the area. Heat promotes blood flow which will flush the injured tissues of cellular waste, while providing nutrients to the torn tissues.

Our cold compression wraps are state of the art! The high quality plush neoprene design allows for a tighter and more comfortable fit for optimized compression therapy. And unlike other wraps on the market it will fit tight against the contours of your injury, making use of the wrap's entire healing surface! On top of that, the wrap's compartmental gel design, and soft-suspended gel means you get the therapy exactly where you need it! Put simply, when you apply the wrap to your body, the gel is forced to stay in place - over your injured area. There is nothing else available like it!

Along with our cold compression wraps, your injured tendon can be further helped by the use of ultrasound over the affected area; reducing swelling quickly and increasing blood flow to the area.

The trick to any tendon injury is getting it to heal with minimal scar tissue formation and with as much realignment of tendon fibers as possible - something radiant energy and ultrasound are great at! Even with optimum healing there is always less elasticity in a previously injured tendon. The trick is to make sure you heal the best you can, that way your chance of re-injury is much lower than average.

Therapeutic kits from MendMeShop provide you with the tools necessary to relieve the pain of tendonitis and dramatically speed the healing. A tendonitis injury is a race against time. The faster and stronger you heal your tendons, the less chance there is for re-injury. The tendons are tough dense tissues that normally receive very little blood flow. This is largely why tendon injuries take so long to heal. When using radiant energy or ultrasound, the energy waves stimulate blood flow which speeds up healing and clears away the inflammation causing the pain.

How to Order

Our Ultrasound system comes with a specially formulated gel which contains naturally-based, pain relieving, anti-inflammatory ingredients. The ultrasound unit actually drives the pain relieving ingredients deep into injured tissue (a process known medically as phonophoresis) giving you the pain relief where you need it. In effect, you receive enhanced ultrasound therapy treatment every session! Developed by doctors and backed by sound scientific research, you can be assured that MendMeShop Portable Ultrasound works. Now, the tremendous benefits of therapeutic ultrasound and phonophoresis are available to you. And we back our products with a 100% Money Back Guarantee.

Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy System

An Inferno Wrap™ is one of the most helpful tools for an injured achilles tendon. Through the absorption of deep penetrating energy waves, tissues are safely and gently heated - increasing blood flow within the treated area. Your body's natural response to this increased temperature is to try to maintain a condition of homeostasis - a balanced environment or state of equilibrium throughout the body. To do this, your body responds with a rapid increase in blood flow to the area (this is known as vasodilation), increasing the supply of nutrients to injured cells and flushing out toxins (including lactic acid, commonly found in trigger points) to promote healing. Our Ankle/Achilles Inferno Wrap provides effective, non-invasive, non-addictive pain relief with no side effects.

Our Cold Compression Wraps are recommended as the best by the Mayo Clinic, several professional sports organizations, and countless medical professionals. That's why we sell them, because they are the best. We have noticed over time that our customers are so fond of our cold wraps that they are frequently coming back and ordering a second one. The wraps are becoming very popular with baseball and soccer trainers, and the wraps can be conveniently stored in a cooler for quick application on the field when needed.

Ultrasound therapy is also a helpful tool for pain prevention of an injured achilles tendon, and having a portable ultrasound device at home can be a powerful and convenient treatment tool. If you have symptoms or are recovering from an injured achilles tendon, using ultrasound on a regular basis before your activity or throughout the day will help relax your muscles, tendons and tissues, diminish pain and inflammation, soften scar tissue and contribute greatly to the healing of your injury.

If you suffer from mild inflammation or pain after certain activities or movements use ultrasound therapy when you complete the activity and then rest and elevate your leg. Limit the application of ultrasound to a couple of treatments per day (the manual will recommend treatment frequency depending upon the injury). In between ultrasound treatments, maximize your pain relief and injury recovery by using the Freezie Wrap and Inferno Wrap. When you're on the go, and not near an electrical outlet, take advantage of the "were anywhere" concept of our wraps - the highest rated wraps in the industry. Proven Performance, Proven Relief - only found at MendMeShop.com. If you have been given a treatment plan by your health professional, make sure you adhere to it to ensure pain free living. In general, people who are committed to their therapies and exercises will have the best medical outcomes.
